About Us

Muslim Youth of Canada was established in 1996 by Dr. Said Mounib.  Along with kind-hearted volunteer board members, the charity set out to providing and advancing the teachings of islam among youth in Canada, mostly through supporting existing programs.

Showcase and develop your talent

Late in the summer of 2022, Dr. Halim Yanikomeroglu, Dr. Abdellah Sebbar, Dr. Nabil Bouzoubaa and Dr. Aisha Sherazi took over the management and running of the charity, as Dr. Said Mounib stepped down, along with his trusted team. He was the founder, and due to poor health and age, he decided it was time. He remains a supporter in the capacity of a donor, and he is of course a cheerleader of the charity.

On the lookout for a new talent

The organization traditionally supported community activities, rather than running its own events.

As all new board members are active members of the community, all with experience with youth, we hope to try and implement some activities that will benefit Muslim youth, many of whom experience systemic barriers.

Examples of activities are, but not limited to: scholarship opportunities (removing systemic barriers), grant opportunities encouraging youth to take on leadership roles and organize events for youth by youth (youth empowerment and mentorship, encouraging innovation and leadership), gatherings with other youth (interfaith), and support other charities that support those endeavors (community-building and partnerships).
